Power Fleet Dinners are held the second Tuesday of every month. It is a super time. Everyone is invited to attend, power boaters as well as sailors. Please make a reservation so we can know to expect you.
Welcome to the Bradenton Yacht Club Power Fleet. If you are a power boater and cruiser, I am confident our friendly and active Power Fleet will become one of your favorite aspects of our club. Regardless if you are new to cruising or an old salt, you will find many fun and interesting cruises and activities in which to participate.
Our members have varied personal and professional backgrounds, boating experiences, types of vessels, and favorite cruises. Yet we are bound together by a common love of the sea and the camaraderie that we build through shared experiences.
The Power Fleet conducts two events each month. One of course is a cruise. The bulk of these are three day events encompassing Friday to Sunday with two nights at the port of call. At least once a year we take an extended cruise of about eight days and visit multiple ports.
The typical three day cruise starts on Friday mornings and ends on Sunday afternoons. During the cruise we have a docktail party (weather permitting), group dinner one night, group photo, and a Saturday morning potluck breakfast. We select ports that offer different attraction and amenities including condo’s for those that do not have bigger boats or want to “land cruise there”. Restaurants, night clubs, shopping, golf, sightseeing, or just “hanging out” at the pool, beach or Tiki Bar are a few of the activities our cruisers delight in. Thus we visit other Florida Council Yacht Clubs and private marinas. With the exception of the occasional extended cruise, most ports are within 20 to 40 NM of our club, enough to make it interesting without spending too much time traveling.
Our other monthly event is the Power Fleet Dinner. These are held the second Tuesday of every month with cocktails at 6:00 PM in the lounge followed by a brief meeting and dinner at 7:00 PM in the main dining room. Like cruise events, this is a great time to meet people and make new friends. Members swap stories about their travels and even plan some ad hoc cruises.
We publish our upcoming events in the Poopdeck, the club’s monthly newsletter. The best way to get up to the minute information is to attend the Power Fleet Dinner, (please remember to make reservations). We also maintain a data base of active cruisers and send out email announcements and confirm all of our cruise reservations using this media. If you would like to be added to the data base please send an email to searay76@tampabay.rr.com including your name, member number, name of vessel, length, beam, draft, height, power requirements, and phone numbers.
Welcome aboard, we are glad you are here!
